Letterman's Remarks Were Deplorable

On Tuesday’s show, David Letterman made several jokes at the expense of the daughters of Alaska governor Sarah Palin, who is a conservative and an outspoken Christian.  The jokes started with a reference to the governor’s visit to Yankee stadium, sitting in “far, far right field” with Rudy Giuliani.  They then became more degrading: “"The toughest part of her visit was keeping Eliot Spitzer away from her daughter."    It continued with his Top 10 joke that Palin's daughter got "knocked up" by Alex Rodriguez.

Todd Palin fired back, "Any 'jokes' about raping my 14-year-old are despicable. Alaskans know it and I believe the rest of the world knows it, too."

Sarah Palin spoke out about the jokes as well: "Concerning Letterman's comments about my young daughter (and I doubt he'd ever dare make such comments about anyone else's daughter): 'Laughter incited by sexually-perverted comments made by a 62-year-old male celebrity aimed at a 14-year-old girl is…disgusting…”

Please join me in contacting CBS and expressing your disgust at the depravity of Letterman’s humor.   This is also a way to show your support for Sarah Palin and her family, who once again are enduring being the targets of crude and tasteless humor for doing nothing but simply attending a ballgame, and being “Conservative.”   I am convinced that Mr. Letterman would not make such comments about the Obama daughters.  I also find it interesting that well-known feminists like attorney Gloria Allred are strangely silent about the sexist comments made by Mr. Letterman.
