HOLLYWOOD SENSITIVE TO EVERYONE BUT CHRISTIANS

While Hollywood goes out of its way to avoid offending minorities, it’s always open season on Christians.

The Fox series “24” portrays the efforts of a dedicated government agent to combat domestic terrorism. In one segment, a Muslim family contains a terrorist sleeper cell.

Under pressure from the DC-based Council on American-Islamic Relations, Fox aired a disclaimer before the last episode of “24.”

Kiefer Sutherland, who plays agent Jack Bauer, told viewers: “Now while terrorism is obviously one of the most critical challenges facing our nation and the world, it is important to recognize that the American Muslim community stands firmly beside their fellow Americans in denouncing and resisting all forms of terrorism. So, in watching ‘24,’ please bear that in mind.”

In reality, there are loyal Muslims and disloyal Muslims. Hamas and other terrorist groups have raised millions of dollars within the American Muslim community.

That aside, can you even conceive of Hollywood showing such sensitivity toward Christians? On prime-time television, believers are regularly portrayed as narrow-minded, self-righteous, bigoted, lustful, hypocritical and worst.

In the popular HBO series “Carnivale” an evangelist called “Brother Justin” is the epitome of evil. Try to imagine HBO telling viewers of this series: “It’s important to recognize that most ministers are faithful servants of God, dedicated to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ and alleviating suffering – physical or spiritual.”

Such a thing is inconceivable. Hollywood hates Christianity and rarely misses an opportunity to defame Christians. What a difference from the way it panders to the followers of Mohammed.

DECENCY GETS A BOOST IN VIRGINIA

Yesterday, the Virginia House of Delegates passed a bill authorizing a $50 fine for anyone who displays his or her underwear in a “lewd or indecent manner.” If there’s another way to display your underwear, I wish someone would tell me.

The bill (which passed on a vote of 60 to 34) was sponsored by Delegate Algie T. Howell -- a black Democrat who said his constituents are offended by a style of dress called “low-riding” pants.

During the floor debate, Delegate Lionell Spruill, Sr. (also a black Democrat) called the bill “foolish” and said the measure was an unconstitutional attack on young blacks.

Charges of racism are the last refuge of liberals. On an episode of “Good Morning America” reporting on the legislation, the young ladies shown “low-riding” (actually, exposing far more than their underwear) all were white.

If youth have a constitutional right to display their undergarments, wouldn’t they also have a right to walk around naked? In reality, the First Amendment covers protected speech, not public indecency.

The left has perverted the concept of personal freedom to the point where they will argue that children have a right to display various body parts in public, but Christians don’t have a right to pray in proximity to a homosexual gathering.

Virginia’s House of Delegates has struck a blow for morality. It’s high time for Christians to reclaim the culture from those who would have people behave like animals – even in public.

ARE ADVOCATES OF TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE NAZIS?

Also this week, the Virginia Senate overwhelmingly passed a constitutional amendment defining marriage in the Old Dominion as the union of a man and a woman and banning civil unions – a significant move. The amendment, passed by a three-to-one margin, now goes to the House – and, ultimately, the voters for ratification.

Typical of the tactics of proponents of homosexual marriage, Senator Mamie Locke (D-Hampton) compared pro-family advocates to the architects of genocide.

In floor debate, Locke charged that defining marriage as God defines it constituted “stigmatizing people because of their sexuality just as the Nazis did.” Another senator argued, “It is xenophobia that led to Nazism…it is homophobia that brings us to this place in time today.”

This is both abysmally ignorant and highly offensive.

Is Locke saying that Orthodox Jews, who overwhelmingly oppose so-called gay marriage, are Nazis? Are the 70 to 80% of the American people who say marriage should remain between a man and a woman storm troopers? Is the Bible, which unequivocally condemns homosexual acts, the equivalent of “Mein Kampf”?

It was the rejection of Judeo-Christian morality that gave rise to Nazism. The leadership of the SA (or storm troopers) were openly gay. German historian Lothar Machtan wrote a book (“The Hidden Hitler”) offering convincing evidence that the man who unleashed the Holocaust was himself a homosexual.

Comparing the defenders of traditional marriage to the monsters of the Third Reich is a contemptible intimidation tactic. Nothing speaks more eloquently to the intellectual bankruptcy of those who would turn marriage into a free-form institution.

STEALING THE INNOCENCE OF YOUTH

Another female teacher has been charged with having sexual relations with one of her students.

Pamela Rogers Turner, of Warren County, Tennessee, has been charged with 15 counts of sexual battery by an authority figure and 13 counts of statutory rape on a 13-year-old boy.

Apparently, the crime spree commenced when Turner, a divorcee, was temporarily living with the child’s family – thus making it a double breach of trust.

More and more of such cases are coming to light (involving both male and female educators). In an anything-goes culture, many shrug and say: Well as long as it’s not forced.

But, by definition, society has determined that a 13-year-old is incapable of consenting to such acts. The perpetrators of these horrors are robbing children of their God-given innocence. Studies have shown that the psychological trauma of these “relationships” is manifested years latter.

In a way, teachers having sex with their students is a logical extension of sex education curriculums. Sex education teaches that people are animals and urges must be satisfied.

When you get right down to it, what’s the difference between a man satisfying his desire for sex with another man, and a woman satisfying her desire for sex with an adolescent? Some experts in the field are now arguing that pedophilia is also genetic – one rationale for homosexuality.

Turner’s case should teach us something about the danger a society faces when it abolishes norms established by the God who gave humanity its nature.
