Pray in Jesus' Name!

Sadly, Lt. Gordon James Klingenschmitt, a Navy chaplain, has been convicted by a courts martial of insubordination for praying in Jesus name while in uniform.

Chaplain Klingenschmitt received an official reprimand and was ordered to pay a fine of $250 per month for one year. The sentence is being appealed.

The Petition Text

Yes, I support U.S. Navy Chaplain, Lieutenant Gordon Klingenschmitt in his fight against Navy policy which requires chaplains to say only nondenominational prayers outside of church services.

This bold man is standing up for his right to pray in his own faith tradition and I am proud to stand with him publicly.

Why should anyone be offended when a man of God prays according to his own faith?  The Navy's policy is an attempt by military bureaucrats to make religious expression homogenized and bland -- and therefore meaningless and worthless.

I am in full support of the proposal in the U.S. House which states, "Each Chaplain shall have the prerogative to pray according to the dictates of the chaplain's own conscience..."
