Vision America commends President George W. Bush for the defense of traditional marriage in his State of the Union Address last night. The organization also applauds the president's challenge to activist judges.

Mr. Bush said we must "take a principled stand for one of the most fundamental, enduring institutions of our civilization." He noted, "Activist judges, however, have begun redefining marriage by court order, without regard for the will of the people and their elected representatives."

Declaring "the people's voice must be heard," the president issued a challenge, "If judges insist on forcing their arbitrary will upon the people, the only alternative left to the people would be the constitutional process."

The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court has ordered that state's legislature to legalize homosexual marriage. Currently, amendments are pending to both the Massachusetts and U.S. Constitutions to codify the definition of marriage as the union of a man and a woman.

Vision America salutes Mr. Bush for his courageous stand. It notes, however, that activist judges aren't just attacking the sacred institution of marriage (tragic though that is). They've also launched an unholy war against public display of religious symbols, including The Ten Commandments.

The U.S. 9th Circuit Appeals Court ruled that it's unconstitutional for school children to recite the Pledge of Allegiance because it contains the words, "One Nation Under God." In the case of former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, another appeals court held it's unconstitutional for any public official to acknowledge God. Such outrageous usurpations must be vigorously opposed.

Vision America is conducting a series of Save The Ten Commandments rallies across the nation, including a mammoth rally in Dallas Texas on April 3, 2004.
