The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) - the embodiment of judicial tyranny - has once again demonstrated that there's literally no end to the arrogance of liberal judges.

In November, 2003, Massachusetts' highest court ruled that it was unconstitutional to deny marriage licenses to homosexual couples. Exactly where they found this right in a document first drafted in the 18th century remains a mystery.

The state legislature went to the court, hat in hand, and asked if the justices would accept civil unions --giving homosexual couples all of the benefits of marriage, but withholding only the name. Absolutely not, the court replied. Civil unions are an "unconstitutional, inferior, and discriminatory status for same sex couples," the SJC said in an advisory opinion issued today.

"The SJC did us a favor," said Rick Scarborough, president of Vision America. "Gay couples merit no legal status." Scarborough observed: "Civil unions are a major incremental step toward gay marriage. As such, they represent not compromise but surrender."

Vision America demands that the Massachusetts legislature approve an amendment to the state's constitution defining marriage as the union of a man and a woman - the first step toward ballot status.

Additionally, it calls on the legislature and governor to ignore the unconstitutional decree of a gang of black-robed social anarchists. "Un-elected officials usurping the authority of the people's representatives must not be allowed to shape the family for generations to come," Scarborough declared.

The legislature is scheduled vote on the amendment on February 11. Legislators must pick up the gauntlet the court has thrown down.
