VISION AMERICA URGES SENATE TO PUT GOD’S LAW FIRST IN MARRIAGE AMENDMENT VOTE

Rick Scarborough, president of Vision America, said that as Senators prepare to cast an historic vote on the Federal Marriage Amendment this week, two things should be foremost in their minds – democracy and God’s law.

“ Senators should understand that a vote for the Federal Marriage Amendment is a vote for government of the people, by the people and for the people,” Scarborough declared. “Only by amending the Constitution can we stop judges from imposing homosexual marriage on the nation. It’s the only way for the people’s voice to be heard.”

Senators who rationalize their opposition to the amendment by saying marriage should be defined by the states are hypocrites, Scarborough charged.

“An amendment to the Constitution needs to pass each house of Congress by a two-thirds vote. Then it must be ratified by three-fourths of the state legislatures.”

“If it passes Congress, the amendment will be debated and voted on by the states. This is the only way state legislatures will have any say in the matter. Liberals who are now – for the first and only time in their lives – invoking the doctrine of states’ rights, are really saying, ‘leave it up to our friends in the courts.’”

America was founded on the Bible -- the same Bible that defines marriage as the union of a man and a woman and condemns homosexual acts. Scarborough predicted, “Once we abandon Judeo-Christian morality, including the traditional family, we will have lost our reason to exist as a nation.”
