A SPECIAL MESSAGE

This Sunday, Americans of all ages will celebrate Christmas. I am the oldest I have ever been, but I still remember fondly my earliest Christmases opening presents, seeing family, and the annual trip to grandmother’s home for a huge, “high-fat,” Christmas dinner. What a great season of the year!

Merry Christmas, to you and yours. I pray that all the joy that God intended when He came to Bethlehem on the first Christmas morn be yours this season.

This has already been an unusually great Christmas for us at Vision America, for we have witnessed a small measure of how much people of faith can accomplish when we show up for battle.

Thirty days ago, Merry Christmas was almost expunged from the public square, but Christians and many of our Jewish friends stood up to the infidels and said “Enough!” and suddenly corporate America stood up, took note, reversed earlier boardroom decisions, and affirmed that Christmas is truly CHRISTmas! Our “It’s OK to Say MERRY CHRISTMAS” campaign spread all the way to Australia.

Let’s purpose together that we will stay engaged as the New Year approaches. There is much to be done.

NBC SLANDERS CLERGY WITH NEW SERIES

Remember the days when Hollywood always presented clergy respectfully? In that bygone era, priests were self-sacrificing, rabbis were wise and pastors were compassionate. Then, even Hollywood saw the value of recognizing and reinforcing the good and positive contributions that religious leaders made to society.

How times have changed. A new NBC drama series, which premieres on January 6 (“The Book of Daniel”) is about an Episcopal priest who’s an addict.

But that’s not all.

Daniel’s wife is an alcoholic, his 23-year-old son is a homosexual, his 16-year-old daughter is a drug dealer, his adopted son (also 16) is sleeping with the bishop’s daughter, and his secretary is a lesbian who’s in a “relationship” with Daniel’s sister-in-law.

And Daniel holds imaginary conversations with a very hip Jesus.

The show’s writer is a practicing homosexual. NBC calls this slanderous atrocity “edgy,” “challenging” and “courageous.” I call it revolting.

Christians are the only group in our society that can be slandered with almost total impunity.

Please let NBC know how you feel about this vile portrayal of a clergyman, by writing to NBC Chairman Bob Wright at [email protected]

A NOT-SO-VERY-INTELLIGENT DECISION
ON INTELLIGENT DESIGN

On Tuesday, U. S. District Judge John E. Jones III issued a ruling striking down a Pennsylvania school district’s policy on Intelligent Design.

Beginning in the fall of 2004, the district instituted a mandatory policy of having a statement on Intelligent Design (which posits an intelligent force behind the universe) read to biology classes before the teaching of evolutionary theory.

It wasn’t enough for Judge Jones to simply, and erroneously, reject the policy on so-called church-state-separation grounds. The judge went out of his way to abuse the Dover school-committee and denounce it for trying to sneak religion into public-school instruction.

Over 80 years ago, in the Scopes trial, liberals were shouting censorship because a high-school teacher was arrested for teaching Darwinism. Now they’re the censors.

Religion is being taught in the public schools; it’s just not Christianity. In public education, secular humanism is the established church. Anything that challenges its dogma is treated as heresy.

Evolutionary theory, as the name implies, is just that -- a theory. Intelligent design is as well. But God has left his foot prints throughout the universe, including in the human genetic code.

If you want to know what’s wrong with the federal courts, get a copy of this outrageous ruling. Judicial activism’s latest champion is named Jones.

CHAPLAIN PUNISHED FOR PRAYING IN JESUS’ NAME

As we approach the day which commemorates the birth of Jesus, it’s discouraging to note that a Navy chaplain has been officially disciplined for praying in His name.

The Navy has been infected with political correctness. Outside of church services, Christian clergy are discouraged from praying in the name of Jesus.

Navy Lt. Gordon Klingenschmitt, an evangelical who defied those instructions, has been disciplined by his superiors.

In a letter to the president, 73 members of Congress requested that Naval policy be changed by executive order.

They noted that over 80% of military personnel are Christians, but, increasingly, chaplains in all branches of the service are told not to say public prayers in Jesus name.

We hope the president intervenes to change this. Each chaplain should be allowed to follow the dictates of his conscience and pray according to his tradition.

During the Revolutionary War, George Washington offered public prayers in Jesus' name. In today’s Navy, he’d probably be disciplined as well.
